  1. Provide 1 cup moong dal
  2. Take 1 tbsp besan/ chickpea flour
  3. Take 1/2 inch piece of ginger
  4. Use 2 green chilles
  5. Get 1/4 cup carrot grated
  6. Provide 1 tsp sugar
  7. Take to taste salt
  8. Get 1/4 tsp hing
  9. Use 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  10. Provide 2 tbsp dahi/yogurt
  11. Get 1 tsp eno fruit salt
  12. Prepare for tempering
  13. Provide 1 tbsp oil
  14. Provide 8-10 curry leaves
  15. Get 1 tsp mustard seeds
  16. Provide 1 tsp sesame seeds
  17. Provide 2 pinches hing
  18. Get 2 green chillies
  19. Get cilantro and coconut for garnishing
Steps to make Moong dal dhokla:
  1. Soak moong dal for three hours. Drain thouroughly.
  2. In a blender, add soaked moong dal, ginger, green chillies, salt, dahi and a spoonful of water. Grind till a grainy texture is achieved.
  3. Boil water in a pan. Grease the tray/ thali with oil.
  4. Now to the moong dal batter add besan, sugar, oil, turmeric powder and hing. Mix it well. Now add 1 tsp of eno furit salt and mix it lightly. Add this to the tray/thali and immediately out it in the pan for steaming.
  5. Top the batter with grated carrots. Cover and steam for 12-15 minutes.
  6. In the meanwhile prepare tempering with adding mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves, hing and sesame seeds to the hot oil.
  7. Add this to the tray when it is cooled. Garnish with cilantro and coconut.

This dhokla does not require fermentation of the batter & so it can be prepared without any extra pre-preparation (except soaking dal). It is very healthy & tastes delicious.
